An aggrieved governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, Monday dumped the ruling APC as he formally defected to the Action Democratic Party (ADP) at a ceremony attended by a mammoth crowd of his supporters.
Adeoti, who had been the SSG for the past seven and a half years, aspired to contest on the platform of the ruling party, APC.Amidst cheers and chants of “Shehu” by his supporters across the state at the ADP secretariat located at Biket Area, along Ikirun Road, Osogbo, Adeoti restated his resolve to take part in the forthcoming September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state.
However, the sudden change of the collegiate/delegate system by the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, to the direct election otherwise called Option A4 led to a series of protests by Adeoti and other aspirants which the party ignored and subsequently made him to withdraw from participating in the primary.
Justifying his withdrawal from the race, he cited constitutional breaches and how it has been skewed to favour a particular candidate that eventually emerged
as the party’s candidate as his reasons but vowed to participate in the scheduled September 22 governorship election.
