WHEN UNOMA AKPABIO MOCKED UKANAFUN

Courtesy of blood-thirsty hoodlums hitherto used as political thugs, human lives in Ukanafun and neighbouring LGAs in Akwa Ibom State have been reduced to an insignificant quantity. Tales of bloodletting proves beyond reasonable doubt that life in Ukanafun fits into Thomas Hobbes’ description of being “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.”
Don’t we know those who planted and nurtured this evil tree which is now producing evil fruits?

Today, Ukanafun has become a vulture’s paradise. Killing the notorious Iso Akpafid hasn’t solved the puzzle.
Security agents are always “on top of the situation”, but the boys are killing for fun.
Political office holders representing the area have shied away from wading into the quagmire.
Suddenly, Mrs Unoma Godswill Akpabio, wife of the Senate Minority Leader, jogged into Ukanafun under heavy security. She came with bags of rice, noodles and wrappers.
Wrappers to women who witnessed the coldblooded murder of their children in cold blood! Only few women actually got the wrappers.

Few misguided youth were on ground to praise-sing her in exchange for few wads of Naira. “Eka Esit Mbom” did not fail to ‘thrill’ Ukanafun with dance steps. She took suspicious merriment to a land of sorrow. She fiddled even as the Ukanafun hut burns.
My very reliable sources thoroughly briefed me, and pictures later released by her media aides confirm their situation report.
Doling out ephemeral items like wrappers to women whose children have been murdered in cold blood while the political office holders are cocooned in looted opulence and hired security is a misnomer.
The other day, I saw Senator Godswill Akpabio making a lengthy comment on the Plateau killings during plenary. He ferociously condemned it.
Heavens won’t fall if the Senate Minority Leader takes the plight of Ukanafun people to the Senate too, after all, a problem shared is a problem solved, they say.
Ukanafun insecurity needs to be tackled with total sincerity. Playing to the gallery is a symptom of cowardice.
Ukanafun people deserve more. They need security. They need to return to farms; the few bags of rice given by “Eka Esit Mbom” are insignificant. Those aiding and abetting the murderous hoodlums must be nabbed and prosecuted.
Such display of puking ephemerality by Mrs. Akpabio must stop forthwith.
